Buddy Rich

Buddy Rich

Buddy Rich- possibly the greatest drummer of them all. He had it all- power, skill, showmanship and huge musical taste. Buddy’s career spanned 7 decades starting when he was just 18 months old. He was known as a child as ‘Baby Traps The Drum Wonder ‘ and at age 4 was playing in Broadway shows. Despite having played with some of the great jazz musicians of his time including Count Basie, Dizzy Gillespie and Benny Goodman, he is probably most noted for his work with his own Buddy Rich Big Band. Check out this monster solo below. A stunning example of power, speed, coordination and technique.
